In my opinion Spring is the perfect season to travel with our family. Especially when we are traveling with little ones. And that’s exactly why I gathered here our favourite spring family destinations.
Though it isn’t always easy, or even possible to travel at this time of the year, I can see so many advantages for traveling before summer arrives!
The weather is mild, nature is in full bloom, and popular destinations are often less crowded than in summer. What could be better for a trip with your family?
Having school holidays in Spring, we always try to travel during this period. I will take you through some of our favourite spring family destinations that offer fantastic kids-friendly experiences.
1. United States
As one of the biggest countries in the world, the United States are without a doubt a year-round destination.
But the truth is, some areas are extremely hot during the summer. I’m thinking about the Arizona for example. Or emblematic National Parks like Grand Canyon, Death Valley and Joshua Tree.
Other areas are completely under the snow during the winter. This is great for winter sports but doesn’t allow us to enjoy the amazing trails and waterfalls. Here Mammoth Lakes comes straight to my mind!
So, if you have the opportunity to visit the United States with your family during springtime just head to the southwest side of the country. Arizona, California and all the West Coast are definitely calling you !
Arizona
In Arizona Temperatures can be quite extreme. Scorching hot in summer and freezing in winter.
Therefore, it’s not surprising that Spring and Autumn are the best seasons to explore around with kids.
The most amazing national parks
With the mild spring temperatures, you will be able to explore amazing parks like Saguaro, Grand Canyon and Monument Valley. Without the extreme weather conditions typical of other seasons these parks are perfect for all ages. So much to admire and discover.
Sedona
If you and your family like to hike, Sedona offers plenty of amazing trails for all levels. And all of them will take you through incredible landscapes.
Devil’s Bridge and Subway Cave are maybe the two most well-known trails in the area, and they don’t disappoint. But if you ask me the Subway Cave Trail was definitely our favourite.
Did you know?
Sedona is an amazing location to go stargazing.
Phoenix
Is the most amazing city with a cool vibe that certainly conquered us. I think you and your family will love it there too.
Street art, food courts, amazing museums, parks and gardens. Phoenix really has it all.
For your family’s visit to Phoenix, I recommend starting in Downtown and explore around. And don’t miss out the Heritage & Science Park
We also loved hiking in Papago Park. The landscape is beautiful and the views are amazing. Papago Park is also home to Phoenix Zoo. I would definitely skip that and head to the Hall of Flame Museum of Firefighting instead.

The West Coast
Running through California, Oregon and Washington, the US West Coast makes for one of the most epic road trips in the world.
And Spring is one of the best times to explore it with kids for many reasons. For me these are the most relevant ones:
- Yosemite’s waterfalls are at their best when the winter snow melts down
- The mild temperatures are perfect to visit Death Valley and Joshua Tree Parks
- blue skies and wildflowers make the scenic Pacific Coast Highway comes to life
- Seattle cloaks in pink with vibrant cherry blossoms
The fastest road from San Diego to Seattle consists in a 20 hours’ drive. It means that even if you just have 1 week you won’t be driving more than 3h per day. Which is perfect for a relaxed spring family destination.
But of course, that it will depend on how many stops you want to do and how long you want to stay at each spot.
It took us almost three weeks to do the entire coast, south to north. But if you only have two weeks it will make for an amazing road trip anyway!
Our itinerary looked like this:
California
We started our road trip in San Diego.
Spent some time in Palm Springs and Joshua Tree on our way to Los Angels.
From there we took the Cabrillo Highway 1 visiting the Big Sur before arriving to San Francisco.
Next stop Yosemite National Park.
Our way to Oregon took us through Napa Valley and the Redwood National and State Parks.
Oregon
In Oregon our itinerary took us to the amazing (and super underrated) Crater Lake National Park.
Then we drove to Portland from where we visited the Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area.
We couldn’t leave Oregon without a stop at Cannon Beach.
Washington
Seattle is a vibrant city with lots to see and do.
We loved the Downtown and Waterfront areas. Especially the Pike Place Market near the Original Starbucks.
Other amazing experience in Seattle is to visit the city’s Underground.
After spending a couple of days in Seattle, it’s time to head back to nature in Mt. Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest and Olympic National Park.
2. Spain
Some areas of this amazing country have been deeply suffering with the side effects of mass tourism.
But being one of Europe’s biggest countries, Spain has a lot to discover outside the most touristy cities like Barcelona and Madrid.
Traveling outside the peak season is also an effective way to explore Spain’s wonders without the crowds, making it one of the best spring family destinations in Europe.
Andalusia
This Spanish region certainly attracts a lot of tourists, but few people really know Andalusia beside Sevilla, Cordoba and Granada.
Because of the summer’s hot temperatures, it is hard to explore outside the big cities. Especially for families with young kids.
But in Spring you have the perfect weather conditions to
- discover the most beautiful villages like Ronda, Setenil de las Bodegas or Zahara de la Sierra
- learn about troglodyte houses in Guadix and Iznajar
- visit the most amazing world heritage patios during the The Courtyards Festival of Cordoba 2025
- relax in natural hot springs in Zujar
If your kids are 8 yo or older I definitely recommend the Caminito Del Rey trail.
La Rioja and the Bardenas Desert
La Rioja
La Rioja is famous for its wines, but also for its hot springs and archaeological sites making it a fantastic spring family destination.
More so, La Rioja’s wineries are amazingly family friendly, welcoming parents traveling with young kids.
We had a wonderful time at Marqués de Riscal winery in Elciego. The staff were super welcoming, and the vineyard is absolutely gorgeous for a family walk.
You can also stay at their amazing hotel design by the famous architect Frack Gehry and member of Marriott’s Luxury Collection.
Not so far away you will find the Termas de Arnedillo hot springs and the Dinosaur Trail of Enciso where your kids can search for dinosaurs footprints and admire the real scale dinosaurs models.
Las Bardenas Reales
La Rioja is also the perfect base to visit the Las Bardenas Reales Desert with its Mars-like landscapes. The perfect adventure that will wow the entire family.
3. Bali
Shoulder seasons are definitely the most perfect time to visit Bali with children.
Price and crowds wise, Spring and Autumn are very similar. For families is easier to find accommodation and move around the island.
But from our experience Spring in Bali comes with its perks.
Starting from March, its sea turtles nesting season with the hatching season from April to September!
Spring is therefore the best time to see sea turtles nestling and help baby sea turtles in their run to the ocean. This is definitely one of the best things to do in Bali with kids.
We lived an amazing experience with Bali Sea Turtle Society (BSTS). Follow them in Instagram for their hatching and release dates updates and learn how to help.
Though spring is a great time to explore the island of Gods without the crowds, you should consider visiting the quieter side of Bali in Sidemen or North Bali, where your family can enjoy scenic rice fields, waterfalls, and dolphin-watching tours.
Sideman
This area is a peaceful alternative to Bali’s busier spots, somehow forgotten to millions of tourists who head straight to Canggu and Ubud.
But in my opinion skipping Sideman is a huge mistake knowing that this area has so much to offer like:
- stunning landscapes with the most beautiful rice terraces with the Mount Agung in the backdrop
- sustainable travel experiences like learning about the Natural Salt Farmers workand the Coral Restoration Bali
- incredible water temples and palaces like Tirta Gangga and Taman Ujung
- unforgettable stays in the most beautiful bamboo houses
- the most stunning family friendly waterfalls like Gembleng
Munduk and Lovina
North Bali is one of the most underrated and less explored areas of the island of Gods.
Its location far from the traditional tourist hubs makes for a peaceful retreat for families looking for nature, some adventure, and cultural experiences.
The areas of Munduk and Lovina, though very different in terms of landscape, complete each other perfectly offering a vast choice of family friendly activities.
These are our favourites:
- hiking to amazing waterfalls like Banyumala Twin Waterfalls
- learning about traditional coffee production at a Coffee Plantation and try Bali Coffee
- exploring emblematic temples like Ulun Danu Beratan Temple on theshores of the Twin Lakes Tamblingan and Buyan
- watching Dolphins from black sand beach or in sustainable boat tour
- relaxing in the Hot Springs at Banjar surrounded by tropical jungle
4. Portugal
It’s not because I’m Portuguese but believe me when I tell you that Portugal is one of the best European destinations for a spring family trip.
From April to June temperatures are mild but you already have nice days at the beach. The fields are covered in wildflowers and crowds are still at bay.
From my experience this is the perfect time to visit Lisbon and the south regions, Alentejo and Algarve.
Lisbon
Though April can be a little bit rainy, Lisbon is a fantastic city break in spring, with amazing weather conditions in May and June.
This city surely offers a very good mix of history, culture, and family-friendly attractions, for all ages all year round.
What makes spring a special time to visit is that you will be able to experience a beautiful natural phenomenon and the most amazing traditional festival.
Every spring, from mid-May to early June, Lisbon lives the Jacarandas’ blooming season.
It transforms the city into a sea of purple blossoms as the jacaranda trees bloom across the neighbourhoods. These trees, originally from South America, have become an iconic part of Lisbon’ spring scenery, making it a magical time to explore the city.

The other reason to visit Lisbon in June is Santos Populares (Popular Saints Festival), the city’s most famous street party.
Though the main celebrations take place on the night of June 12th to June 13th in honour of Saint Anthony, Lisbon’s patron saint, the different neighbourhoods start their preparations well before.
During this time, the entire city turns into one big open-air festival, with colourful decorations, traditional music, and lots of food and drinks. The best part? The street parties in historic neighbourhoods, where the local residents welcome visitors to celebrate together.
Alentejo
This region, highly underrated, is still Portugal’s hidden gem and the perfect place for families looking for a peaceful countryside escape.
Alentejo is known for its rolling hills andwhite villages. And in Spring it blooms with wildflowers popping everywhere.
Spring is also the best time to avoid the (very) high temperatures of summertime and fully enjoy these amazing family friendly activities:
- Explore the cutest villages and the walled town of Évora – A UNESCO-listed town with ancient Roman ruins and charming cobbled streets.
- Go stargazing in the Alqueva Dark Sky Reserve – One of the best places in Europe to see the Milky Way with the naked eye. How cool is that?!
- Enjoy the beaches of Costa Vicentina – Some of the most beautiful and untouched beaches in Portugal, like the beaches of Vila Nova de Mifontes and those in the Lagoas de Santo André e da Sancha Nature Reserve
- Discouver the Almendres Megalithic Monuments
If you are visiting Lisbon and Alentejo with kids, consider purchasing the Ciencia Viva Journeys’ Card.
This card gives access to all Ciencia Viva Museums in the Portuguese territory and discounted tickets on multiple partners, for all family (2 adults and children up to 17yo) for only 65€.
It is perfect for families planning visiting more than one Ciência Viva Museums. Only in Lisbon and Alentejo you have three of them!
5. Netherlands
Spring in the Netherlands is all about tulip season! It may sound less original than what you expected but there’s no way to avoid this fact!
But the truth is that tulip season really is an extraordinary family experience so I couldn’t let Netherlands out of the best spring family destinations, could I?
Let’s start ditching all the touristy activities like the Keukenhof Gardens and the canal cruises in Amsterdam, right? And let’s go for a more authentic and kids friendly experience!
Amsterdam
I would be tempted to tell you to go straight to The Hague or Rotterdam instead of Amsterdam. Especially during Tulip Season, because it can get so crowded!
But this city has something to it. I get it! We keep going back to Amsterdam and, despite the crowds, we never get tiered.
The trick is to go beyond the touristic centre and move like the locals.
So, instead of a canal boat tour walk around the city. We especially love Food Walking Tours.
Or rent bikes for all the family. What could be more local than that?
And if you really want to experience navigating the canals opt for a hop-on service that allows you to move between points of interest. You can also stay in a boat house!
Once you explored the centre, leave the touristy 9 Streets and go for the best apple pie of your life at Winkel 43, a science kids-friendly journey at NEMO Science Museum, and see Amsterdam from above at A’DAM Lookout.
Apart from tulips, in Spring Amsterdam also welcomes the cherry blossoms. Blooming in a more restricted time frame than tulips, Cherry trees put up a show from late March to early April.
Tulip Fields
If you are looking for the Netherland’s real tulip fields forget the Keukenhof Gardens. As the name suggests, these are planted and arranged gardens, with ornamental flowers’ displays.
To find those vast tulip fields you most likely associate to the tulip season in the Netherlands, you need to leave the big cities behind and drive to the countryside.
We usually prefer to road trip on our own but if you have a limited time in Netherlands, a guided tour may be your best choice.
If you love flowers as much as we do, and are visiting Netherlands late April, save some time to visit Brussels and the blue bells forest, Hallerbos.
At only a 2:30 hours’ drive from Amsterdam, Hallerbos will take your breath away.
From late March to early May, the Netherland’s countryside blooms in the most amazing colours. The country has around 14 thousand hectares of tulip fields and it’s absolutely gorgeous.
If you ask me, Bollenstreek, Lisse and the less known Goeree-Overflakkee island are definitely our favourite locations to enjoy endless tulip fields.

Plan for a couple of days to explore around and try to have at least a sunny day. At this time of the year the weather can be capricious, and rainy days are not so rare.
6. Denmark
I often feel that this country slightly goes under the radar of a lot of travellers, but in reality, Denmark is one of Europe’s most family-friendly destinations for sure.
When spring arrives, the country comes alive with deep green fields everywhere, farm animals calmly pastoring around and pink blooming cherry trees popping here and there.
The days are longer, and temperatures are warmer allowing for the perfect conditions to explore around.
Copenhagen
There’s something to this city that captivates us right away.
Maybe the fact that we see families everywhere. Or maybe the cool and welcoming coffee shops with delicious pastries for all ages. Or maybe it’s the light feeling of happiness we find all around us?
Denmark is actually the second happiest country in the world and Copenhagen really embodies that.
Copenhagen gardens seem to come straight out of a fairy tale, and springtime makes it even more magical. The mild temperatures are perfect for exploring parks, charming streets, and fun-filled attractions.
Our favourite spots in Copenhagen are definitely
- Kastellet, where you will find the famous Little Mermaid Statue and the most beautiful cherry blossoms
- Nyhavn with its boats and colourful buildings
- Christiania with its original houses and strong community spirit
Personally, I think that the Tivoli Gardens are greatly overrated and overpriced. But if you are interested in visiting don’t forget to check out the opening dates knowing that Tivoli closes for winter.
Road Trip Around Denmark
Though Denmark’s landscapes are not as spectacular as other destinations’, the country is small enough for an easy family road trip, and, you guessed it right, spring is the ideal time to explore.
For a mix of nature and city trips I recommend staying in the south part of the country.
It will give you the time to
- visit beautiful towns like Odense,
- chase the famous Thomas Dambo’s Trolls
- explore Lego House in Billund.
But if you have some more time in your pocket go north. Meet the cutest deer in the Marselisborg Deer Park, explore the Mols Bjerge National Park andgo on an adventure to Skagen, the northernmost town of Denmark, where the Northern Sea meets de Baltic.
The most amazing way to visit Denmark with your kids is by far a family road trip in a van!
7. Norway
You got it! We love the northern countries! But there’s good reasons why they are amazing spring family destinations.
Spring in the north, and especially in Norway, is a magical time when the snow starts to melt, waterfalls flow at their fullest, and the days get finally longer.
It’s the perfect season to explore Oslo’s family-friendly museums and experience the breath-taking fjords on the west coast before it gets too crowded.
Oslo
Just like Copenhagen, Oslo is a green, walkable, and family-friendly city.
The Nordic people love to spend time outdoors and their cities were conceived to fully serve a perfect balance of urban lifestyle, culture and nature.
In spring the weather can be a little bit unpredictable, so I recommend planning your visit with a mix of indoor and outdoor activities.
Kids love museums like Fram Museum and Viking Ship Museum and the Oslo Opera House offers amazing guided tours that will captivate all family members.
And for the sunny days you absolutely have to check The Vigeland Park and the open-air Norwegian Museum of Cultural History.
If you only have the time to visit Oslo than you can’t miss island hopping in the Oslofjord. There are a lot of options to do it. The most flexible way is to take a ferry between islands but you can also do an half-day cruise in a sustainable boat or a traditional wooden one.
Norway’s West Fjords
The West Fjords are one of Norway’s most stunning natural wonders, with deep blue waters, stunning rocky peaks, and dramatic cliffs. It was one of the most beautiful road trips we have ever done with our kids!
We chose to do it in a van, which allowed us to wake up in the most epic places and experience spots like Steinsdalsfossen waterfall, Hopperstad Stave Church and the Stegastein lookout almost empty. Can you imagine?
You can drive to the West Fjords from Oslo. It was what we did because renting a van near the capital was a lot cheaper.
Or you can fly directly to Bergen, known as the getaway to the fjords. But also, the rainiest city in Europe with only 125 sunny days per year!
But don’t worry! Bergen is a charming city, anyway, surrounded by mountains and fjords.
When in Bergen don’t miss
- the Fløibanen Funicular that takes you up the Mount Fløyen for stunning views and fun hiking trails. There’s even a troll forest and playground at the top!
- a walk at the UNESCO-listed Bryggen Wharf
- the delicious Norwegian cinnamon buns (Skillingsboller)
Seriously consider doing a family road trip in a van! It is bay far the most economic way of visiting the Norwegian fjords and your family will make memories for a lifetime!
8. Singapore
Did you know that Singapore is considered one of the cleanest, safest, and most family-friendly cities in the world?
It is also the perfect spot for layovers when visiting Asia coming from Europe.
Spring is considered shoulder season in Singapore and though I don’t recommend visiting in March, April and May are just perfect.
Though Singapore is a small city-state, there are in fact two very different ways to experience this island country.
The Garden City
Singapore is often called “The Garden City” because of its impressive green spaces integrated into an ultra-modern and dense urban landscape and its buildings conceived as true vertical gardens.
But even so the city is bursting with activity, traffic and urban sounds.
Different cultures and religions perfectly cohabite the multiple neighbourhoods and this energy fills the air.
In China Town, Orchard Road, Kampong Glam, Little India and Central Area, or even Changi you will experience the cultural and high-tech side of Singapore. The modern wonders and the multicultural spirit of the country.
But Singapore has another side to it.
In the nature
Singapore knows how to transport you to the middle of the nature like no other city in the world.
Every single green pocket is treated in a way that, even knowing that the urban jungle is never far away, we truly feel completely surrounded by nature and like we were in a remote place.
This is true for the breath-taking Gardens by the Bay but also for smaller gardens like Fort Canning Park, the Botanic Gardens or the Jacob Ballas Children’s Garden.
And then you have the other green spaces, outside the urban area, that cover almost a third of the country’s territory: Upper Peirce Reservoir Park, the Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve and the Pulau Ubin.
Traffic can be chaotic in Singapore.
Chose the subway if you want to go fast. Or take a Grab (the equivalent to Uber) to go far.
9. Malta
I was about to write that Malta is an underrated spring destination but thinking better about it I would say that Malta is a very underrated destination all together!
And that’s a shame because this archipelago country offers beautiful beaches, historic sites, and amazing landscapes.
Malta, the country, is composed of three different islands: Malta, Gozo and Comino. Each one of them has its own soul and ambiance.
The main island
Malta is the main island. It gives the country its name and is home to the capital, Valletta, a UNESCO World Heritage site.
The best way to explore Valletta is to do a walking tour so you can full appreciate the city historical centre.
But though Valetta is full of interesting things to discover, I highly recommend you exploring the island. It is packed with history and stunning architecture and amazing spots like Mdina, Marsaxlokk and Hagar Qim Temple that you don’t want to miss.
Comino and Gozo
For a more laid-back spring family destination, head to Comino and Gozo, Malta’s smaller islands.
Comino
This island is home to the famous Blue Lagoon. It rises up to the fame of blue, crystal-clear waters. True!
But on the other hand, unfortunately people often neglect to mention that there’s no sandy beaches on the shores of Blue Lagoon. You will be arriving directly to a concrete dock and from there there’s only rocks full of people, and vendors and loud music!
To be honest we were quite shocked! Is it beautiful? If you only look to the bleu crystal water, yes! Is it the right place for families to relaxed? Not in my personal opinion!
So, once in Comino, hike to the Santa Maria Bay where you will find the sandy calm beach you won’t have at the Blue Lagoon!
To get to Comino you can hire a private boat or take a guided tour.
Apparently there are not hotels in Comino Island. When we visited there was two hotels operating in the island but it seams they have been deactivated since our visit. The only option is the campsite.
Gozo
This island is perfect for families looking for outdoor adventures, with hidden beaches, scenic hikes, and historic sites like the Ggantija Temples.
Our kids especially liked the Salt Pans, and we were very impressed by the beauty of Basilica of the National Shrine of the Blessed Virgin of Ta’ Pinu.
10. Morocco
When I say “Morocco” you probably think “Marrakesh and the desert”, right? But Morocco is so much more than that.
I invite you to discover Morocco beyond Marrakesh. Explore the North so full of history and beautiful cities, for example.
And did you know that Morocco is an excellent location to go surfing? Who would say?
The coastal cities won’t disappoint you either with their beautiful medinas and ocean views.
Coastal cities
From Tangier in the North to Agadir in the south: 900 kilometres of Atlantic coastline and so many amazing cities to explore.
- Rabat, an imperial city.
- Casablanca, the country’s capital.
- Essaouira, Morocco’s beach city
And let’s not forget Taghazout. This fishing village with amazing beaches is Morocco’s best surf destination.
Along the coast you will find amazing surfing schools for kids and adults alike.
- El Minzah Hotel in Tangier
- Sofitel Rabat Jardin Des Roses in Rabat
- Le Royal Mansour Méridien in Casablanca
- Villa Quieta in Essaouira
- Sofitel Agadir Royal Bay Resort in Agadir
The North
If you are searching for a spring family destination with a good mix of stunning landscapes, culture and history, search no more. North Morocco is just what you need.
The northern part of Morocco is home to none less than:
- three imperial cities (Rabat, Meknes and Fes), out of a total of four in the country
- the ancient Roman ruins of Volubilis,
- four of the best Moroccan National parks: Ifrane, Talassemtane, Al-Hoceima and Tazekka
- the unique blue city of Chefchaouen
- and of course, the getaway to Europe: Tangier city
- Riad Felloussia in Meknes
- Hotel & Spa Dar Bensouda in Fes
- Riad Gharnata in Chefchaouen
What the North of Morocco doesn’t offer you is an easy access to the desert.
If you really want to experience the Sahara Desert with your family, you need to head to Merzouga. The famous Agafay Desert, near Marrakesh, is not part of the Sahara. Agafay is a rocky desert and not a sandy one.
From my experience the Arabian Desert is a lot more accessible than the Sahara
11. Croatia
If there’s a place where avoiding crowds and scorching heat is a must, Croatia is that place for sure.
We visited the country in July in our Adriatic Sea Road Trip. What a big mistake it was!
Spring definitely offers cooler temperatures and fewer tourists making for a lot nicer experience for families.
Dubrovnik
The medieval city of Dubrovnik is one of Croatia’s most famous destinations. So, as you can imagine, it’s pretty busy during the high season.
Summertime also comes with harsh temperatures that will considerably impact your experience in a negative way. In our case we weren’t able to visit the city walls due to the extreme heat. Almost 2 kilometres under 45º Celsius with no shadows would never be possible with three small children!
For those reasons I highly recommend visiting in spring when the temperatures are perfect to explore Dubrovnik before the summer crowds arrive, allowing your family to fully enjoy the city.
Stay at least two days in Dubrovnik so your family can experience
- staying in a medieval house inside the city walls
- take a cable car up Mount Srđ for the most breathtaking views and sunset
- enjoy a day at the Banje Beach
The Islands
Croatia has over 1,200 islands. All of them beautiful, with crystal-clear Adriatic waters, charming coastal villages, and pretty laid-back atmosphere. The perfect destination for families.
If you’re traveling with small kids, choosing the right island is key.
We headed to Brac as it is easily accessible and offers great options for family-friendly accommodations.
Korčula and Mljet also make for excellent options for families.
If you have 10 days or less, fly directly to Dubrovnik and plan your way north through the islands, up to the Plitvice Lakes National Park.
12. Albania
In the last few years Albania has hit the social media in a spectacular way. When sunny days arrive, we have the feeling that everyone heads straight to Albania, right? It must be fantastic!
Well, this country certainly has beautiful beaches and landscapes, and a fascinating history and culture. And for the budget-friendly appeal, it is still there. For now!
Albania is an up-and-coming destination and must be visited with that in mind to avoid deceptions. And that’s why it is definitely better to visit the country in shoulder season.
If you want to enjoy the beaches, Spring is for sure your best chance to actually see the sand, instead of sun umbrellas and loungers.
In any case I would simply skip the Albanian Riviera and spend more time in the North and exploring the UNESCO-listed sites!
Theth and the North
This was our favourite part of Albania without a doubt!
The landscapes are breath-taking. Even in high season is very easy to be all alone in nature. And for the Albanian hospitality this is the only place in all country we really felt welcomed.
Theth Valley in northern Albania is a definitely a must-visit.
And Spring is a great time to explore the Albanian Alps and go on easy hikes through Valbona Valley National Park.
Though even in summer temperatures are never unpleasantly high, in Spring waterfalls are at their best and you will find wildflowers everywhere.
Unesco World Heritage Sites
Albania is home to several UNESCO-listed treasures that your family will love exploring.
We loved the ancient city of Butrint that offers well-preserved Roman ruins. Kids can run and explore freely and the views over the lake are gorgeous.
Other high points of our road trip in Albania were Gjirokastër and Berat with their incredible Ottoman architecture and kids-friendly fascinating museums.
Final Thoughts on the best Spring family destinations
We just love travel during Springtime. And the more we travel the more I feel frustrated with the crowds we find everywhere in summertime.
Spring is therefore the perfect time to travel as a family, offering comfortable weather, blooming landscapes, and unique cultural experiences, without the summer travel’s inconvenients.
